Full-time | In-person (Montreal)
About the Role:
This is not a standard engineering job. We are looking for an R&D specialist, someone who can architect, build, and ship systems spanning machine learning, robotics, and full-stack software. You’ll work alongside the head of engineering as a partner: helping to set direction, translate quarterly goals into real technical outcomes, and consistently raise the bar for what the team can achieve.
You will have high autonomy across as many projects and domains as your skills allow. Success is not about completing checklists; it’s about delivering results that raise the standard for the entire team. You will play a central role in shaping technical priorities, challenging assumptions, and driving the best solutions forward. Collaboration is core to the work: you are expected to work fluidly with the rest of the team, but you’ll never be limited by unnecessary management or bureaucracy. We strive to build a team where ever person sets the bar for what possible for them.
What Will You Do:
- Work with the head of engineering to define project plans and objectives, and then execute on them with minimal oversight.
- Build and ship machine learning and software systems that have direct impact on our product and business goals, iterating quickly and learning from real-world feedback.
- Continuously raise the bar for what’s possible by bringing new ideas, tools, and standards to the team.
- Take ownership of technical objectives, using your own product intuition and expertise to steer development in high-leverage directions.
- Proactively identify and solve problems across the stack, whether in code, system integration, or workflow.
- Contribute to a culture where high performance, open feedback, and mutual respect are the norm.
- Own delivery from start to finish, making sure projects move from concept to reality.
Who You Are:
- You have built and shipped real products in generative AI (vision, language, or multimodal), designing modular, configurable systems that can support ongoing changes and a variety of use cases.
- You like building with your hands. 3D printing components is a straight forward and common solution to problems in your life.
- You have experience leading end-to-end technical delivery of projects where requirements were ambiguous, priorities shifted, and you still delivered something solid that real users depended on.
